Guangxi Institute of Industrial Technology in Stony Desertification Control (GXRDC)

is am institute co-founded by GIIT and Institute of Subtropical Agriculture of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) according to the suggestion made in the cooperation meeting between the Autonomous Region Government and CAS. With the support of Huanjiang Observation and Research Station of Karst Ecosystem of CAS, for protecting and restoring the eco-system in the karst landscape area in South West China, GXRDC devotes to Stony desertification treatment technologies including the research of sustainable control and the ecological pattern-process-service evolution of Karst landscape, biological – engineering control of soil erosion, comprehensive regulation and efficient usage of surface water and ground water, land treatment and increasing soil fertility, ecological immigration-local produce cultivation, etc. Based on the finding, GXRDC built up eco-agriculture systems, which combine plating and breeding, featuring healthy livestock breeding, high efficiency nutrition regulation, comprehensive utilization of livestock waste, ecological treatment of wastewater, treatment and safe production of fields polluted by heavy metal, etc. GXRDC has brought up solutions for coupling control of human and nature in karst eco-system, made innovation in the sustainable development model for Stony desertification control and eco-based industry, supporting the building the ecological safe shelter zone in south west karst landscape area and rural development with science and technology.
