Institute of Bio-Manufacturing Technology (IBMT) is a self-established research institute directly under the GIIT and a Guangxi Expert Service Base. It is an innovation platform integrating professional technical research, transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and talent cultivation.
Mission & Achievements
The institute is committed to serving the economy of Guangxi, leading industrial upgrading, and promoting social development. Relying on the advantageous resources of Guangxi, it addresses the technological bottlenecks and shortcomings restricting the development of local biological manufacturing industry. Through exploring and innovating institutional mechanisms, it conducts research on key core technologies for industrialization, strengthens the promotion and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and promotes the commercialization, industrialization, and marketization of biological science and technology. So far, it has spawned 4 high-tech enterprises, obtained 8 patents, applied for 22 patents, won the third-class award of the Guangxi Science and Technology Award once, and won the third-class award in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions twice.

R&D Directions
Bio-Manufacturing serves as the technological core of the modern bio-industry. It is a green production approach that utilizes biological systems as tools for material processing and synthesis.
This is primarily manifested through the invention and application of novel technologies such as advanced fermentation engineering, modern enzyme engineering, biorefinery, and bioprocess engineering.

1. Dextran
o Utilizes Guangxi’s sugarcane resources and innovates with enzymatic and nanomembrane separation purification technology (pioneered through genetic recombination).
o Features: Environmentally friendly, controllable molecular weight, high purity.
o Applications: Pharmaceuticals, food additives, cosmetics, fine chemicals.
o Impact: Extends sugarcane industry chains, enhances resource value, and revitalizes Guangxi’s "sweet" industry.
2. Dextran Derivatives
o Synthesized from sugarcane via enzymatic technology, combined with advanced synthesis methods to simplify purification (desalination/impurity removal occur in final steps).
o Advantages: Simplified operations, cost efficiency, technical advancement.
o Applications: Active pharmaceutical ingredients (e.g., iron/zinc/selenium complexes) for treating anemia, micronutrient deficiencies, and boosting immunity.
3. Rapid Hair Drug Testing Kits & Instruments
o Domestically leading technology enabling rapid, high-precision detection in hair samples.
o Advantages: Broad detection range, portability, real-time online monitoring (as of 2025-06-17), and traceability (½–6 months).
o Status: Certified by Ministry of Public Security authorities, with scaled production filling Guangxi’s technical gap in rapid drug testing.
o Applications: Screening for drug abuse; approved for use in public security, drug rehabilitation, and water contamination detection.
